The Martin Luther King Day Parade was such a positive community event that we decided to close out February with a float from the parade. These teenagers rode on the back of a truck on a very cold January day doing their civic duty, instead of sleeping in on a holiday from school. The young ladies seemed to recognize many people along the way and were quick to wave at people (like us) with cameras in hand.
Did you notice that all four teenagers have a phone in hand? Today's youth are never more than an arm's length from communication with the world. Their attachment to instant and constant communication is something parents, teachers, friends and employers must address-- perhaps even embrace. Gone are the days when we have each others' undivided attention.
Do stop back tomorrow, March 1st to help us kick off the City Daily Photo community's theme day theme: Your favorite part of town. That will be a hard choice!
