Golden Antiques is located off of 220 North in Summerfield. This antique mall has turned an older shopping area into a community gathering place. By virtue of the fact that people rent spaces to sell their upcycled, recycled, and used items, vendors are constantly coming and going. Golden Antiques tries very hard to community build. They have a booth that fundraises for Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue. They hold silent auctions. Sometimes people showcase their vehicles in the parking lot outside. Last weekend when we stopped by, Golden Antiques had a spread of food, prehaps for an open house. Poppy's Soda Shoppe, located at the front of the store, gives people who aren't so keen on shopping a place to sit and have an affordable scoop of ice cream while their collecting-obsessed family members peruse the isles. Unfortunately, since we were on site to prepare this post, we have learned that Poppy's is closing. It is the second snack venue in the location. It would be nice to have sufficient traffic to support a cafe.
One thing that can't be purchased or removed from the place is the beautiful sunny sky above. The white, puffy clouds are floating on over to Skywatch Friday. Have a great weekend folks. If you are local and near downtown Greensboro, don't forget to head over to Westerwood for the studio tour event, easily accessible by walking.
