Today, we head to the southern end of Guilford County, very near Southern High School for our Sacred Sunday post. Concord Friends Meeting, located at the corner of Old Randleman and Concord Church Roads, is today's feature. We assumed this was a Quaker Meeting house because of the word "meeting" on the brick. However, curiously, in searching through Quakerfinder.org, this facility did not appear! We decided to research later and snap now, before leaves block the view of the angular roof!
On the rightmost edge of this photo you can barely see a couple of headstones from the cemetery. According to an extensive data base of cemeteries and graves in Guilford County, there have been 57 interments here. The oldest grave is that of Adela E. Osborne who died in 1882. The most recent interment registered is Frances Sue Setzer who died on November 24, 2004 at the age of 87.
A bit of a mystery, eh?
I am reminded of the old joke in America: A rabbi is complaining that many of his congregants are going over and joining the Quakers, so he says "Some of my best Jews are Friends." :)
Happy Palm Sunday.

Love the different warm brown shades and textures of the building. Good luck in finding out what church it is. I know how frustrating that can be.
I think you'll like my post today. :)

I like so much the combination of brick building and this so beautiful tree.
