As Greensboro's citizens reflect on the reasons our city should be selected for Google to bring fiber-optic high speed broadband, perhaps we should consider the fact that Greensboro is a city with a rich history of educating and valuing the contributions of women. We have three institutions of higher education known for educating women: Greensboro Female College (Greensboro College), Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (UNCG), and the still all-female Bennett College.
Our all-time most famous female is Dolley Madison, First Lady and wife of America's fourth president, James Madison. A few other prominent women (living and deceased) include: Judge Elreta Alexander-Ralston, Betty Cone, Bertha Sternberger, Kathleen Clay Edwards, Emily Preyer, Blanche Benjamin, Patricia Sullivan, and Doris Henderson.
In the same way that the above clasped-hands sustain a connection, Google could bring a virtual connection to The Gate City. The photo was taken last Sunday at the the Greensboro Farmers' Curb Market, a place that has been connecting Greensboro to the local farming community since 1874.
Go girls! and hope you get that fiberoptic broadband.

A very sweet picture. I can hardly wait for the birth of my first female grandbaby in a few weeks.
Good luck with Google.
