We close out African-American History Month with a Sacred Sunday photo of Bethel African Methodist Eposcopal Church on East Market Street. The church is located just down the street from NC A&T University and Bennett College. According to their website, Bethel AME has been "witnessing to the world since 1869" and their mission is to minister to the needs of all people by word (witness) and deed (action).The purple cloth draped over the wooden cross reminds us that the Lenten Season is upon us. Tied with extra loops and with ends aloft, the cloth shows just how windy it was in Greensboro yesterday.
It is hard to believe that a mere 28 days ago, we were here, celebrating the opening of the International Civil Rights Museum and Center in downtown Greensboro.
