Continuing on the back to school theme: If you are local to Greensboro you know that one of our biggest high school rivalries, dating back to the days of the Greensboro City Schools, is between Page and Grimsley High Schools. Here we see an SUV supporting the Page Pirates. The side of the car had a picture of the Grimsley mascot (a Whirlie) X-ed out and the numbers of two athletes.
Page High School, located at 201 Alma Pinnix Drive, opened its doors in 1958. The school is named after Walter Page Hines, a North Carolina journalist, ambassador to Great Britain. The street is named after Alma Pinnix who, according to their website, planted most of the flowers and shrubs lining the campus. Page High School has always prided itself in its academic rigor and in February of 2008, it earned the designation International Baccalaureate World School.
We aren't trying to show favoritism to Page; however, today is Ruby Tuesday and Whirlie blue just doesn't qualify! If you attend/ed Page and want to tell us why it is so great, leave a comment! Kind words only please!
Thank you for your lovely comment on VDP Jan! Happy New Year, happy belated first anniversary!
