When is the last time you used a laundry mat (or more properly, laundromat)? Would you know where to find one in Greensboro (or in your community)? Imagine getting to the laundry mat if you didn't own a car; arriving and having it be closed! This laundry mat happens to be on Battleground Avenue in the Big Lots shopping center near Gold's Gym.
If you are fortunate enough to do laundry in the comforts of your home, consider being generous with the less-fortunate this year. Perhaps you can leave a five dollar bill in the custodian's corner of the building with a stickie-note saying, "your next cup of coffee is on me," so that the lucky finder will know the money wasn't lost.
Consider giving a gift to someone who least expects it, to someone new this year. Have an afternoon tea for a family in need. Donate money to the school in your neighborhood--even if you don't have children who attend. Drop an extra tip in a tip jar. Not only is December the season of giving and goodness, it is the countdown for charitable contribution tax write-offs for 2009. If you're strapped for cash, just drop by and spend time with someone who would appreciate your company.
Please stop back by GDP and let us know about your act of giving. Share your ideas! Today, we're posting this photo over at Watery Wednesday!
Oh my, a laundromat! I would give up my nicrowave before my washer and dryer. I always wonder whose clothes were in the washer before mine and did they use enough soap and hot water . . . a frankly phobic state!

I'm still having a hard time coming to grips with certain stores banning The Salvation Army Kettle.

Never. We don't have them in Sweden. If you live in a big building there's always a big laundry room in the basement that everyone can use for free.

Interesting timing for me, and a great post. I live in the back of my business, and I do not have a washer/dryer. I really miss them! Someone had been doing my laundry at their place for quite awhile, and now that option is out for awhile. My old apartment didn't have them either (the building was ancient). The two local laundromats I used to know about HAVE closed. I have the phone book out on my desk, but I haven't opened it yet. I desperately need a trip to Le Laundromat . . . maybe today! But I have to find one first that hasn't gone out of business!
Thanks for visiting my Rockaway Beach photo. I had my old camera then, and many of the photos didn't come out well, but I'll search for one that might show something. Maybe we'll have two Rockaway photos in a row :) I'll see what I can find.

Wonderful ideas. I try to tip big at this time of year also.

You've got to give a little, live a little ...
Some good ideas here.
We do have a laundromat near us...and it's generally quite busy, one reason being we live close to the Ocala National Forest, where a lot of people make there "homes."
But, years ago, we used these, too. Not much fun, really!

I sure spent a lot of time at the Laundromat when I was younger!!! (UGH!) And no, I have no idea where one is located now.
I've been giving money to the bell ringers nearly every time I pass and making homemade gifts--and that's about all I have time for.
