The Masonic Temple, located at 426 W. Market Street in downtown Greensboro, is home to the Greensboro York Rite Bodies. Their annual fall festival will begin this Wed., September 2, 2009. According to Wikipedia, Freemasonry is a fraternal organization that began in the 16th century. Freemasonry is a system of morality based in belief in a Supreme Being. The highly-secretive organization is veiled in allegory and symbols.
The Greensboro building is very attractive. However, we find the sign, featured today, with the iconic Masonic square and compass surrounding the letter "G" to be extremely intriguing. The weathered copper sign is a landmark on West Market Street.
Haven't heard much from the Masons of late. Thought maybe the whole "fraternal" things was ebbing a bit...

Great photo today. I love the way the giant center pane frames the view. I wonder if there is a certain thing it frames at any time of the day ?
