For summer water fun near Greensboro, try driving a few miles north to Belews Lake. The lake, completed in 1973 by Duke Energy, boasts a surface area of 3863 acres and a shoreline of about 88 miles. The lake is located between Stokes, Rockingham, and Forsyth counties, making it easily accessible. The water is almost unseasonably warm as it is used to cool the coal-burning power plant at Belews Creek Stem Station. Boating, jet skiing, and swimming are permitted in the lake with a public boat ramp and access through Carolina Marina and Humphrey's Ridge.
This is our contribution for Watery Wednesday.
WOW..how beautiful!

You mean to say Duke didn't pollute the lake, cut down all the trees, and eliminate several species? I can't believe that.

Wo, no wonder the water is warm. It has beautiful color, though.
I grew up in Chicago, near the shore. Swimming in Lake Michigan, you felt like a polar bear.

I like this idea: "Boating, jet skiing, and swimming are permitted in the lake with a public boat ramp and access through Carolina Marina and Humphrey's Ridge." thanks for sharing!
