Greensboro's Cultural Center at Festival Park located at 200 N. Davie Street has it all! As noted on the Downtown Greensboro website, "Within the Greensboro Cultural Arts Center are the following: The African American Atelier, The Center for Visual Artists, Green Hill Center for NC Art/ArtQuest and Gift Shop, and the Guilford Native American Art Gallery and Gift Shop." Additionally the Community Theater of Greensboro, the Greensboro Children's Theater, and a host of other organizations have offices there. Finally, you can be sure to find some music or art organization performing and hosting exhibits throughout the building. The Cultural Center is a community space we need to use and help fund. We decided to use it for Skywatch Friday because we love to showcase Greensboro's buildings. The redbud trees in the foreground look beautiful in combination with the green on the roof. Since the brick is approaching orange, it is ALMOST as if this were a celebration of secondary colors!
If you are not from around here, hopefully, you will appreciate the beauty of the building. If you are local and use this building, likely, you are on a first name basis with Mary, Rosina, Steven, and Mitchell (to name a few of the dedicated folks with offices in this building). If you are looking for something to do this weekend, stop by the Cultural Center, take in an exhibit, and get a schedule of upcoming events. Happy Friday. We hope you enjoy this little slice of the cloudless blue sky.
I love all the strong lines in this photo. The clear blue sky just makes everything stand out.

Cool composition. I like the way things step down from the top left.
Funny, I was actually in Greensboro this evening. My son had a recital at UNC-G. Got some killer shots in and around the Music Building and Peabody Park. And a few on Tate Street of course.

I like all of this! What I like most are the varied colors - colors you don't see together that often...plus the roof lines and the sky. It's a terrific photograph that grabs and holds one's interest!
Thanks!

This looks like an adaptive re-use of an old building. Is it? If so, it's a great example of how to salvage existing architecture instead of tearing down usable older structures to make way for new, even those with potential for new life. At any rate, it's a great shot. Roof lines against the sky always seem to provide really good photo opportunities, which is probably why public architecture is so important to those of us who're always looking up.

different style buildings looks bit strange together. but nice after a while. green on the windows fits nicely with that brickbuilding. and the threes adds more weirdness to the pic. all topped with that gorgeous blue sky. bit odd but nice at the same time. happy SWF!

I love the reflection in the buildings windows. This is a really neat skywatch. Your blog is great, I enjoyed looking through your pics.
To answer your question, it takes me about 40 minutes to drive into Manhattan & about 50 minutes if I take the train.
We pay very high taxes here but the close access to NYC makes it worth it to me.
Thanks for visiting LIDP.

It alls sounds fantastic and wonderfully friendly.
We need more community-based art centers. I can't imagine hanging out and being on first name basis with people at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
