Junkyard Dogs

Tucked away on Roseland Street, just off State Street, lives a metal worker/welder. He makes wonderful animals and signs out of meta scrapsl. Here we see a few of the end products, gnarling works of art. Hanging on the fence, just out of the camera's view is a masterfully-crafted Harley Davidson sign. We decided, however, to show this view because the real dog in the background is very protective of his menagerie, the junkyard dogs. We use this term affectionately. Some of you may remember Jim Croce's 1973 song "Bad, bad Leroy Brown" in which the lyrics "meaner than a junkyard dog" are heard. Then there is the 1980's wrestler, Junkyard Dog, who is said to have gotten his name from that song. We'll those are all thoughts evoked as we stroled past the metal dogs on Roseland Street in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Oh I love these dogs. Just my kind, guardians with out the fuss. I remember that Leroy brown song. and those Junkyard guard dog did have a bad reputation.
